Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith
Artesia Classical Academy, Inc. is an independent school without institutional ties to a particular church or denomination. While we believe there is no liberty to disagree where the Bible speaks clearly, we recognize our own fallibility, and acknowledge that sincere Christians hold differing views on certain beliefs. We desire to remain united in the salvation and love of Christ, avoiding the dissension that may be caused by denominational distinctives. On these matters, students will be referred back to the family and their church homes for final authority.

1. The Word of God. We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God, complete as a revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe that all scriptures are God-breathed. We adhere to the Bible’s orthodox interpretation regarding all matters including, but not limited to, the sanctity of life beginning at conception, and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe all other books external to the Bible are man’s attempt to interpret God’s Word and thus should not be held as the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15,16; 2 Peter 1: 20,21; Revelation 22:19)

2. The Trinity. We believe there is but one living and true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

3. God the Father. We believe in God the Father, an infinite Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ adopting them as sons and daughters. We believe that God the Father orders and disposes all things according to His own purpose and grace. He is the Creator of all things. As the only absolute and omnipotent Ruler in the universe, He is sovereign in creations, providence, and redemption. (Genesis 1:1; Romans 8:14; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Galatians 4:4-6; Ephesians 1:3-6, 11,17-23; Ephesians 3:9)

4. God the Son. We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal son. He is true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His death, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into Heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and His personal, visible, return from Heaven (Matthew 1:18, 23; Matthew 12:40; Luke 24:1-8; John 1:14; ; Acts 1:11; Acts 2:27; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Ephesians 4:8-10; Hebrews 4:14-16; Hebrews 7:24-25; Revelation 19, 20).

5. God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Matthew 28:19; John 3:5; John 16:7-13; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:14,16; 1 Corinthians 6:11,19; 1 Corinthians 12:4-13; I Corinthians 14; Ephesians 3:16, 20; Ephesians 5:18; Titus 3:5)

6. The Deity of Christ. We believe in the deity of Christ in that He was completely God and completely human; He (Christ) was not a created being such as the angels are; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His miracles; His atoning death; His physical bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal return in power and glory. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20-23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:35; John 2:11; John 10:33; John 11:25 Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Ephesians 1:7-10; Hebrews 2:9; Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:26; Revelation 19:11-14).

7. Man. We believe God created mankind, male and female, in the image of God. Man was created free of sin. We further believe that man, because of his fall through Adam, is a sinner by his own choice and is therefore spiritually dead, and in need of salvation. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:7-3:19; John 3:36; Romans 3:9-23; Romans 5:12-21; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3)

8. Salvation. We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that, for the salvation of the sinful men, rebirth by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary. Salvation is given by grace through faith, and we believe that faith without works is dead. (John 1: 12-13; John 3:3-7; Acts 2:37-39 Romans 3:21-26; Romans 5:1-2 Ephesians 1:7-10; Ephesians 2:8-13; 1 Timothy 2:5; James 2:14-26; 1 Peter 1:18-23; 1 Peter 3:18-4:2)

9. Last Things. We believe in the resurrection of all mankind; the eternal, conscious existence of all men, either in Heaven or Hell; and in divine judgments, rewards, and punishments. (John 5:28,29; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 2 Corinthians 5:6-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 2 John 1:8; Revelation 19, 20).

10. Unity. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28; Colossians 3:15-17).

11. Christian Conduct. We believe that the supreme task of every believer is to glorify God in his life. The believer should live blamelessly before the world, be a faithful steward of his possessions, and seek to realize for himself the full stature of maturity in Christ. Furthermore, we believe Christians are called to discipleship and thus need to minister to others in both word and deed. (1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 1:28; 1 Timothy 6:6-9; 1 Peter 1:14-16).

12. Church Involvement. We believe Christians are called to be active members of a local church (i.e. a group of believers meeting on a routine basis who receive teaching, accountability, and encouragement in God’s Word, and who also submit to the authority of pastors/elders) in order to stand firm in uncompromising biblical convictions (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24-25; Hebrews 13:7, 17; I Timothy 4:13).
